Instead the approach to the field will be from the northwest corner of the field The $50 million project includes construction of a new indoor practice facility — set for completion in February 2006— and the Osborne Complex housing training facilities, a weight room, the football team's locker room and offices for the football coaching staff and athletic administration. In conjunction, some 6,000 seats will be added to the north end of Memorial Stadium, pushing capacity to beyond 80,000. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for fall 2006.

181 | August 17 USC has Will Ferrell, Nebraska has Larry the Cable Guy. A Pawnee City native, comedian Dan Whitney, known by most as Larry the Cable Guy, visited Nebraska’s morning practice Wednesday and had the players and coaches laughing in a post-practice gathering. “I’ve done a lot of really cool things, met a lot of really cool people … (but) I was never more star-struck than I was standing out there on the field, talking to the team,” Whitney said. “I was pretty nervous.” Whitney has purchased a skybox and said he’ll attend every home game this season. “Born red, die red, right?” he said. As for his advice to the team? “I definitely told them to Git-R-Done,” he said. “The big call was, ‘One, two, three, Big 12 Champs, Git-R-Done!’ I had to put a ‘Git-R-Done’ in there.” August 16 I-backs Kenny Wilson and Brandon Jackson broke long runs in Nebraska's football scrimmage Tuesday, and the significance wasn't lost on Huskers offensive coordinator Jay Norvell. Big runs were few and far between last season. "The mark of a great back is if you're a finisher - if you get out in the open and you make a safety miss and you finish," Norvell said. "We're looking for backs that can do that. We're looking for backs that play with great second effort and run through contact. But second effort also is only part of the equation as Nebraska tries to re-introduce the big play to its attack. A year ago, the Huskers had just 39 offensive gains of 20 yards or longer. Only six were runs, and two of those were scrambles by quarterback Zac Taylor. "This year," receiver Terrence Nunn said, "we just know we have to get more." August 15 The Huskers are trying to fill the gap at cornerback caused by Bowman's season ending injury. It seems to be an area of concern to the coaching staff but they are confident that a solid replacement will be found. August 13 Nebraska coach Bill Callahan felt good about how quickly the new transfer quarterback Brian Hildebrandmight grasp the Huskers' offense August 11 Nebraska's I-back situation became a little less cluttered Thursday as Leon Jackson left the Husker football team August 08 Nebraska football coach Bill Callahan on Monday announced that Harrison Beck has decided to leave the program, stripping the Huskers of a player once considered their quarterback of the future August 07 Nebraska cornerback Zack Bowman is lost for the football season to a knee injury after he tore an anterior cruciate ligament Saturday in practice. Bowman, a five-game starter last season who gave the Huskers a rare combination of size and speed, suffered the injury in a non-contact, one-on-one drill. He will require surgery but plans to redshirt this fall and return to the NU as a senior in 2007 August 06

Nebraska sophomore quarterback Harrison Beck, apparently upset over lack of practice time, skipped Saturday’s practice, only the Huskers’ third of the season. |
Texas and Southern Cal are the only teams on Nebraska's schedule listed above them in this poll:
