November 30 2007 Cornhusker Wrap upFrom a tongue in the cheek prediction of an 11-1 season, with a more realistic expectation of a 8-4 record, to a dismal ending of just 5 wins, the Huskers ended it for another year........ What happened has been the subject of all of the sports writers and pundits in Nebraska. Everyone had an opinion, most of which had to do with the defense's inability to stop teams from scoring humongous scores while whipping the Huskers. If the scores had been close perhaps the win-loss record would not have seemed so bad. This old fan felt that a big problem was converting running backs into defensive cornerbacks and safeties. While they may have been fast backs they were too small to handle the pass defense It all seemed to boil down to the question of how an ethical, experienced coach could, with some good talent, let it all get away. And that is why Bill Callahan was fired last Saturday.... he did let it get away from him... As a result a new coach will soon be named by Doctor Tom Osborne, who himself was named interim Athletic Director. Good luck to whoever is named as the majority of the Husker Fans are not willing to be losers for very long... November 29 Colorado - Nebraska Stats Team Statistics (Final)

November 11 Huskers looked like teams of 10 year ago
Joey Ganz broke the single-game Husker record for touchdown passes, yards and total offense during the 73 -31 win over Kansas State... That had a lot to do with it. Wonder why he didn't start the season at QB ???? It was a good win for the team and the coaching staff. The seniors will have something good to remember about their last game in Lincoln and the coaching staff can shake their heads about it wherever they land next year....... Next up..Colorado on the day after Thanksgiving in boulder.... A win there could make the Huskers bowl eligible. Wouldn't that complicate the exit of coach Callihan and the hiring of a new coach ???? November 07 Next to Last Game for Husker Seniors and Coach CallahanThe Huskers play Kansas State in Lincoln at 11:30 this coming Saturday, November 10th at 11.30. Television is on a sports cable channel called Versus which is a higher tier channel that I don't pay for... While they may hope to be evenly matched the Huskers are 7 1/2 points underdogs on the latest line. The consensus seems to be that after the Colorado Game on the 23rd Coach Callahan will be gone with the payment of 3 million or so to buy out his contract.... I hesitate to say this while living in Nebraska, but I feel a bit sorry for him and his staff. With high expectations from him and his staff for a great season ( and my prediction of an 11-1 season ) , everything just fell apart. Why ? Everyone has a different answer. It was just one of those things that didn't gel.
Look what could have been. November 04 New Record for HuskersYep! The Huskers set a new team record yesterday against the University of Kansas. They allowed 76 points to be scored against them ... an all time school record for points given up..... There were so many missed tackles and lack of second effort to move off of blocks by the defensive team that I lost track, sometimes on the same play. As the 4th quarter started I wondered if putting the 2nd offensive team in to play defense wouldn't be a good move. Joey Ganz' three touchdown passes to Purify were about the only highlight in the game.... They make a good pair. I would guess that even after the good effort against Texas last week, this one probably tipped the scales to the end of the Callahan era of coaching at Nebraska. Dr. Tom won't have any choice but to can him at the end of the season. I have to admit that it is hard to remain a fan for the last two games of the season coming up against Kansas State and Colorado ........ But I will be loyal and try............
